I have been told by many who are working to overcome obstacles in their lives, that I have motivated them to push through and return to the gym as well as other areas of their lives.
Almost nine years ago I was diagnosed with Alopecia Universalis, an autoimmune disease where the body attacks hair follicles. It caused me to lose all the hair on my head and body (unbelievably within a month) and never returned. As you can imagine, this is life altering, especially for a woman. I have worn wigs, lashes and painted brows ever since. About four years ago I began competing in the NPC in Figure. Changing my body was something I could control. This year on my birthday I decided to go to the gym without my wig for the first time. Since then, I decided to compete this year without hair and did my first national shows placing well at both the NPC Universe and Masters Nationals (I won the masters class this year at Montanari Grandprix in June). I'm in the process of preparing for Masters Nationals (Possibly a repeat at Team U as well) to come back bigger and better.
